Through much thought and many prayers, and with the encouragement and support of friends and family, I am excited to announce my candidacy to serve as Bryan City Councilman for Single Member District 3 (SMD3). I am eager to offer my experience and leadership to keep Bryan on the pathway of growth and success that we have enjoyed for many years.
Bryan is my hometown and I have lived in our district most of my life. Many of you know how much I love our city. I am loyal and dedicated to our citizens, and I love serving the community whenever I am needed. Our district has been blessed with almost 8 years of strong leadership from Councilman and current Mayor Pro Tem, Greg Owens. Like Councilman Owens, I am a business owner and want our district to continue to have strong representation from someone committed to public safety, private sector job creation, and quality of life issues.
My first responsibility will be to help keep Bryan safe, something I take very seriously. I am a proud supporter of our Bryan Police and Fire Departments and will make sure they remain the best trained, best equipped public safety departments in the country.
The City of Bryan is currently facing many tough economic decisions as our small businesses continue to suffer while trying to survive. The Bryan City Council will need someone from SMD3 with a strong business background to help guide the City during and after this COVID-19 climate. I believe my business background and extensive public service in economic development have prepared me to successfully serve in this climate. I have served on the Board of the BCS Chamber of Commerce, served many years on the Bryan Business Council (BBC), Chaired our regional Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation (BVEDC), and Chaired the Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z).
I am also committed to educational opportunities for all kids in Bryan. I have a close working relationship with BISD and helped establish and raise funds for BISD’s new 100+ acre Regional Workforce Career and Technical Education (CTE) Complex, and currently serve on the Texas A&M University RELLIS External Academic Advisory Council.
Despite the public health and economic challenges we are facing today, I am proud to live in a dynamic and thriving community, and I am confident that, along with the strong leadership of our Mayor and city council, I can help keep Bryan moving forward. I am a positive person committed to running a positive campaign. If you give me the honor to serve as your SMD3 representative, I will serve with the same positive attitude and with respect for all. As always, I will depend heavily on the advice, prayer and support from friends, family, mentors, and the business community to help guide and set the stage for what is yet to come. And I will be eager to listen to all our citizens. My door will always be open. My phone will always be on.
I look forward to this campaign, and even moreso, to continue to serve the town that has blessed me and my family so much.
